Constructed in 1116 CE by Raja Madan Shah and later fortified by the warrior queen Rani Durgavati, this stone outpost crowns a granite ridge overlooking Jabalpur. Directly downhill sits the geological wonder known as the Balancing Rock—a massive granite boulder balanced on a tiny base point that has withstood major earthquakes.
