Experience the Architectural Grandeur of JK Temple in Kanpur
Located in the bustling locality of Sarvodaya Nagar, the Sri Radhakrishna Temple—popularly known to locals as the JK Temple—stands as an island of architectural brilliance and spiritual peace. Commissioned by the Juggilal Kamlapat (JK) Trust in 1960, this magnificent landmark breaks away from traditional dark temple corridors. Instead, its neo-classical style integrates grand, high-ceilinged spaces that welcome floods of morning light and cooling cross-breezes.
Constructed entirely out of pristine white marble, the complex features five towering steeples or shikharas. Each shikhara guards a dedicated shrine: the principal central sanctuary houses Shri Radha and Krishna, while the surrounding individual chambers celebrate Lakshmi-Narayan, Ardhanarishwar, Narmadeshwar, and Hanuman. As you stroll through the marble corridors, take a moment to look at the walls—they are covered in detailed, hand-engraved stories and poetic verses from the Ramayana and Mahabharata. Surrounded by beautifully maintained green lawns, musical fountains, and wide walking paths, it remains Kanpur’s most photogenic spiritual escape.
